Dene O'Loughlin is a qualified Master Mariner, and has been a marine surveyor since 1989. Insurance qualifications include the Certificate of Insurance and the then Insurance Institute of New Zealand Associateship in 1996, including top Marine student in his year. He spent two years as a tutor and setting assignment questions for Associateship students. Other qualifications include the New Zealand Restricted Limits Engineering Certificate (1984), Compass Adjusting (1997) and the New Zealand National Certificate in Horticulture Level 4 (2006). Commercial shipping experience is supplemented by a hobby yachting, and fishing background, including building and launching his own 28' yacht in 1984.
Michelle O'Loughlin comes from a banking background with ASB Bank, and subsequently Accounts work with Cathay Pacific Airways. Michelle has been handling marine claims since 1998, her specialty being vehicles in transit, originally the importation of used Japanese vehicles into New Zealand and Australia, but now handling marine transit claims for vehicle importers from around the world, including places as diverse as Africa or Myanmar.
